"Israeli checkpoints restrict Palestinian mobility; tear them from their lands," says Rehab Nazzal.
Rehab Nazzal is a Palestinian multidisciplinary artist looking at the effects of settler-colonial violence on the bodies and minds of colonized peoples, on the land and on other non-human life. Dr. Nazzal is an assistant professor at Dar Al-Kalima University in Bethlehem and her work has been exhibited internationally.
For issue #93 of The Internationalist, Dr Nazzal discusses her project, Driving in Palestine which explores the politics of mobility that she encountered first hand while traversing the occupied West Bank between 2010 and 2020.
In this discussion, Dr Nazzal delves into the military checkpoints forced on Palestinian daily life by the Israeli state and how the documentation of these structures becomes an enduring form of protest.
