From the research of Cheng Enfu and Lu Baolin (Monthly Review May 2021), it is found that by early 21st. century, the overseas profits of U.S. corporations have had increased from 5 percent in 1950 to 35 percent in 2008. Indeed, the proportion of overseas-retained profits increased from 2 percent in 1950 to 113 percent in 2000.
