From a neo-Machiavellian and hegemonic Gramscian lens, this “Malay umbrella” move is not just community organizing — it is counter-hegemonic statecraft by an elder statesman on repackaging cultural unity as a strategic fallback in the post-UMNO, post-Mahathirist political vacuum.
