More than two years ago in the October 2021 edition of the New Left Malaysia THE MALAY LEFT by Fadli Fawzi, and continued with the other almost forgotten progressives, in our country and in other continents during a time of colonial struggle for independence, and disembarking the disemboding of imperialism.
Then, the journal covering the Malaysian Left tale continues - NLM #23 - with lawyer Karam Singh whom legacy literature has neglected. It was expressed then that mainstream political discourse often tends to focus on ravishing roles played by monarchs and their enuch statesmen, whereupon the NLM journal edition shall portray the sterling stories of other progressive elements endeavouring in environment against all odious odds, like poet Said Zahari, socialist entrepreneur Tan Kai Hee, socialist Jing Quee and Wang Rumei (aka Huang Hua as a translator to Edgar Snow), and the many other unknowns who had sacrificed through Sook Ching (to purge through cleansing) massacres, in Yu Lang Lang and elsewhere in peninsula and Singapore as vanguards of the Overseas Chinese Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army; and completed that NLM edition with freedom fighters in the African continent.
It was expressly hoped that the 23rd edition just like its past publications, would help in the circulation of the New Left Malaysia magazine - among peers and the diaspora communities.
It did.
Terima kaseh.
